I should think you want to upgrade to WinXP-SP1 (giving you IE/OE6-SP1 in the process) after having gotten back to the "vanilla" IE/OE6 which came with your original install of WinXP Pro. As to the cause of your original problem with switching identities, I think it's a moot issue now.
